Are you a musician or play an instrument? Do you love to sing? Do you just want to learn more about music and singing?
If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, then the Holy Spirit Music Ministry wants to hear from you!
Our parish has several opportunities for you to get involved in bringing beauty to our liturgy through music.
- Our Holy Spirit Choir generally sings at 11am Mass every other Sunday between September through Pentecost each year. The Choir provides choral music for major feast days and special occasions. This is a mixed-voice choir for any age. No audition is required; all are welcome! Our choir rehearses on Tuesdays at 7pm in the choir loft.
- If you are a singer (male or female) with strong musical skills (any vocal training, strong sight-reading skills, ability to sing independently from accompaniment), you are invited to become a cantor! Cantors range in age and rehearse with the parish music director on their own schedule. Cantors can be scheduled to sing as often or infrequently as desired. Before singing at a Mass, those wishing to cantor will be asked to meet with the parish music director first. Cantors generally sing at either the 8:30am or 11am Masses on Sunday.
- Anyone who plays an instrument is also encouraged to get involved in our Music Ministry. Instrumentalists can participate as much or as little as desired with rehearsal time determined by musical ability. Generally, instruments join in Masses for all special feasts and Holy Day liturgies.
- The Holy Spirit Folk Ensemble provides music every other weekend at the 4:30pm Saturday Mass. This is a mixed-voice ensemble. Rehearsal for this group generally takes place before Mass at which the group is singing.
If you are interested in getting involved in any opportunity, or would like more details, please contact the parish music director, Seth Cutter, at [email protected] or (859) 468-8792.
